How CheckCasinoReview makes money, which links are commercial, and the firewall that keeps that money away from our scores.
Last updated: 1 July 2026
The short version. Some links on this publication are commercial. If you follow one and open an account, CheckCasinoReview may be paid a fee by that operator at no cost to you. That fee does not buy a review, a score, a ranking or a favourable sentence. We publish trade-offs for every brand we cover, including the ones that pay us.
1. Why this page exists
Independence is only meaningful if it can be checked. The UK Advertising Standards Authority requires commercial content to be obviously identifiable, and we think readers deserve more than a footnote. This page explains the whole arrangement in plain English.
2. How we are funded
CheckCasinoReview has no paywall and no display advertising. Our only revenue comes from affiliate arrangements with the UK-licensed operators we review. When a reader follows a marked commercial link and later opens an account with that operator, we may receive a fee.
3. How commercial links are marked
- Every outbound commercial link carries
rel="sponsored nofollow"in the page code. - Every brand card and review page carrying such a link shows a visible "Commercial link" note alongside the 18+ warning.
- Links to regulators, charities and support organisations — the Gambling Commission, GamStop, BeGambleAware, Gamblers Anonymous — are never commercial and we are never paid for them.
4. The editorial firewall
These rules are fixed and are not negotiable with any operator:
- Testing precedes commerce. A brand is licence-checked and account-tested before any commercial conversation influences publication.
- Uniform terms. Commercial arrangements are structured identically across every brand we cover, so no operator can outbid another for position.
- No copy approval. Operators do not see, review or approve our reviews before publication and cannot request changes to a score.
- Trade-offs stay in. Every review lists weaknesses. Where an operator asked us to remove one, we have declined.
- Payment cannot buy inclusion. Brands without a verifiable active UK Gambling Commission licence are not listed at any price.
- Removal on failure. If a licence lapses or an operator fails a re-check, the listing is removed regardless of revenue impact.
5. What a commercial link costs you
Nothing. Fees are paid by the operator out of its own marketing budget. You are never charged more, offered worse terms or given a different promotion because you arrived from CheckCasinoReview.
6. What we are not
We are not an operator, a broker or an agent. We do not accept deposits, hold funds, run promotions or offer wagering. Once you follow an outbound link you leave CheckCasinoReview entirely and your relationship is with that operator, governed by their terms and overseen by their regulator.
7. Trade marks
Operator names and logos are the property of their owners and appear here solely to identify the subject of an editorial review. Their appearance does not imply that the operator endorses CheckCasinoReview or has approved our commentary.
8. Responsible advertising
18+ We never present gambling as a solution to financial problems, a route to income, or a rite of passage. We do not target anyone under 18 or anyone who has self-excluded. Every commercial link is accompanied by an age restriction and a link to free support. If gambling is causing you harm, please see our Responsible Gaming page.
9. Questions or corrections
If you believe a link is inadequately labelled or a review reads as though it were influenced, tell us: editorial@checkcasinoreview.co.uk. We investigate every such message and publish corrections with a date.
